Who we are
CUC Mudgee Region is a not-for-profit organisation providing local students with free facilities and support to achieve their tertiary education goals. Our aim is to enable equitable access to education for the residents of the Mudgee Region without the need to leave the region. Our mission is to help build a highly skilled, dynamic and robust workforce that can address the changing opportunities and priorities of the region.
What we do
The Country Universities Centre Mudgee Region is a dedicated, state-of-the-art study space located in Mudgee that was designed specifically to enable remote learning.
Any student studying a tertiary course online can register with CUC Mudgee Region for FREE access to high-speed Internet, computers, printing and photocopying, both open plan and private study spaces, and general academic and administrative support – basically everything a student needs to study successfully in a supportive environment.
Additionally, if it is exam supervision that’s required, the Centre has all the services and technology needed for both traditional invigilated exams and online exams
Open all year round from 3am to midnight, the Centre brings together a local network of students and connects to a broader learning community through the CUC network of Centres.
Who we support
We are here for all people in the Mudgee Region who are studying remotely with any institution in Australia, whether that be higher education through university or a course with a Vocational Education and Training provider.
We are here also for any visiting student completing their practical in the region who needs a dedicated space to continue their studies away from home distractions.
And if you’re a local business or service provider interested in engaging locally trained university graduates and students, or hosting student placements and work-based learning, we are here for you too.
How it all began
The Country Universities Centre Mudgee Region officially opened on 27 March 2024. It is an affiliate of the Country Universities Centre (CUC) network, funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, NSW State Government, and Mid-Western Regional Council. CUC Mudgee Region has also received vital sponsorship from Glencore, Peabody Energy and ACEN Australia. Since opening, we have supported more than 240 students, with our largest cohorts studying in the fields of health and education.
The CUC network of 28 community owned study hubs provides educational facilities specifically tailored for regional students. The CUC model brings the facilities of a university campus to regional areas, giving country students equitable access to higher education. All Centres are free to use for all registered students.
