Who we are

We are driving change in regional education by empowering the Mudgee region community to fulfil their potential through higher education. We are increasing access by providing a highly connected learning community in the Mudgee region to overcome the barriers to success.

Why we are here

Regional and rural communities deserve quality opportunities to pursue their dreams without the need to relocate. Our mission is to provide regional people with the space and tools they need to create a vibrant and more prosperous future for themselves and their wider community.

What we do

We have created a state of the art dedicated learning and study space in Mudgee that has been designed for regional people by regional people. Our students have free access to high-speed Internet, modern technology, and general academic support, all delivered here at CUC Mudgee Region. Our students have the opportunity to build a network of like-minded fellow students and can take advantage of being part of a state-wide learning community.

Who we are here for

All people in the Mudgee region who are studying higher education from any university or non-university higher education provider. If you’re a local business or service provider interested in engaging locally trained university graduates and students, or hosting student placements and work-based learning, we are here for you too.

A new beginning

CUC Mudgee Region officially opened on 27th March 2024.  It is as an affiliate of Country Universities Centre, with support from the NSW Government and Midwestern Regional Council. CUC Mudgee Region has also received sponsorship funding by Glencore.

The Country Universities Centre (CUC) is designed to provide educational facilities specifically tailored for regional students. Upon entering a CUC facility, attendees will find a structured, campus-like environment characterized by a community of staff and fellow students, prioritizing safety and inclusivity.

A primary feature of the CUC is its capacity to connect students from diverse Australian universities. This promotes networking opportunities and knowledge exchange, while catering to the specific needs of regional learners. The CUC emphasizes recognizing students’ individual backgrounds and qualities, ensuring that services are adapted to meet these unique needs.

The support structure at CUC is comprehensive. The team assists in various areas, from navigating university learning portals and enhancing academic skills to addressing personal well-being concerns. Understanding the potential challenges regional students might face, the CUC team is equipped for both casual consultations and structured guidance sessions.

Academic support at the CUC is robust, with Learning Skills Advisors available to guide students, irrespective of their stage in the educational journey. There are provisions for individual and group academic sessions, including specialized workshops targeting core academic skills.

The infrastructure at CUC is built with functionality in mind. Facilities include dedicated study rooms equipped with essential technology, collaborative spaces, and ancillary amenities like kitchens. To cater to diverse study schedules, centres are operational from 6:00 am to midnight.

The CUC provides consistent high-speed internet connectivity, along with essential computer facilities and printing services. For examinations, the CUC has set up a dedicated space suitable for both traditional invigilated exams and the emerging trend of online exams, ensuring a distraction-free environment for students.

The centre is free to use for all enrolled university students.
